Chamoli: With inclusion of tableau showcasing Uttarakhand’s adventurous sports, Uttarakhand’s ten women also received the PMO’s invitation to participate in the Republic Day parade in Delhi.
These women from Chamoli’s Vibrant Village, who are actively involved in self-employment in the border areas, received the invitation from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Their participation highlights the government’s recognition of the efforts made by the residents of remote border areas.
These women will leave for Delhi on 23 Jan
The women from Chamoli will leave for Delhi on January 23, accompanied by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) soldiers. This group includes Damyanti Devi of Mana village, Lalita Devi of Gamshali, Manju of Kailashpur, Manju Devi of Bampa village, Nandi Devi and Vineeta Devi of Hanumanchatti, Kamala Devi of Farkiya, Manisha Devi and Parvati Devi of Jhelum, and Rukmani Devi of Niti Gamshali. Mohan Prasad Joshi, the Block Development Officer of Jyotirmath, confirmed their participation in this prestigious event.
Last year, Gram Pradhans of vibrant villages were also invited by the PMO
This is not the first time that individuals from the Vibrant Village Programme have been invited to the Republic Day celebrations. Last year, 66 Pradhans and Deputy Pradhans from the villages covered under the VVP attended the Republic Day Function in New Delhi.
VVP covers 51 villages in Uttarakhand
The Vibrant Village Programme (VVP) is a significant initiative covering 51 villages in Uttarakhand’s three bordering districts—Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi, and Chamoli. The programme aims at the comprehensive development of these remote areas, ensuring that the residents have access to essential services and infrastructure.
Comprehensive development of identified villages in border areas
The VVP is a centrally sponsored scheme designed to promote the comprehensive development of identified villages in 46 blocks along the northern border in 19 districts across Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territory of Ladakh. The programme aims to provide road connectivity to unconnected villages, housing and village infrastructure, energy (including renewable energy), and television and telecom connectivity.
Inclusion of these women in the Republic Day parade is a proud moment
The inclusion of these 10 self-employed women in the Republic Day parade is a proud moment for Chamoli’s Vibrant Village and a testament to the successful implementation and impact of the Vibrant Village Programme. Their participation is not just a symbol of recognition but also an inspiration for others in the region to continue their efforts towards self-reliance and development.
