Dehradun: A person, who completes his age of 59 years and 6 months, can now apply for an old age pension on the social welfare department’s pension portal.
The applicants will start receiving pension from the end of the month in which he completes the age of 60 years following the approval of his application form. This is meant to ensure that the elderly people can get the benefits of old age pension on time.
The department launched a campaign to identify the eligible person for the pension
According to Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Neeraj Khairwal, his department launched a month-long campaign, beginning from September 25, in all the districts to identify the persons who have completed 60 years of age. Around 12,000 persons, who have completed 60 years of age, identified during the campaign.

The campaign also helped the social welfare department in the collection of data showing persons who have completed 60 years of their age on October 1, 2024. Apart from this, a data of such persons was also collected who have completed the age of 59 years 6 months.
CM distributed old age pension through online
On Tuesday, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed the old age pension through the online system to a total of 61 persons who have completed 60 years of age in Madhya Pradesh from September-2024 to October-2024. Earlier, CM Dhami had asked the officials to begin the process of approving old age pension to the people of the state to enable them to receive old age pension as soon as they complete 60 years of age.
State government has increased old age pension
Expressing his happiness over the fast speed to sanction old age pension, CM Dhami said now elderly people will be able to get the benefit of old age pension on time. He also recalled that the state government has increased the old age pension from Rs 1200 to 1500 per month. Now both husband and wife elderly couples are being given the benefit of pension.
