Chamoli: In the higher hills of Uttarakhand, the season’s first snowfall has started on Thursday. Heavy snowfall has covered the Indo-China border and the valleys along the Niti Mana border in border district Chamoli are now beautifully blanketed in snow. Badrinath and Kedarnath higher hills also witnessed their first snowfall on Wednesday.
As the temperature in this region plunges amid cold winds, people started experiencing chill in the air in the month of September. People are staying indoors, while the snow-covered mountains look stunning.
Snowfall also occurred in Badrinath and Kedarnath
Meanwhile, the first snowfall of the season has also occurred in Badrinath and Kedarnath. Snowfall was seen on the peaks of Badrinath on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, the peaks of Kedarnath were seen covered with a white sheet. Snowfall occurred in the high peaks of Badrinath Dham as well as Hemkund Sahib, Rudranath, Lal Mati, Nanda Ghunghati, Niti and Mana valley. Whereas, it rained in the lower regions. At the same time, snowfall occurred on the high peaks of Kedarnath as well.
Snowfall may hamper the development projects in border villages
Since BRO soldiers are working on building double line roads in some areas adjacent to the India-China border. In such a situation, they may face a lot of problems due to snowfall. The snowfall has made it challenging to continue construction and other developmental activities, causing delays and disruptions. The cold weather and difficult conditions have also made it harder for workers to operate efficiently.
Pilgrims faced problems due to the low temperature
The temperature has also dropped drastically due to rain and snowfall which has increased the cold in Badrinath shrine and Hemkund Sahib on Thursday. Due to the rain, people remained confined to their homes throughout the day and pilgrims faced problems due to the sudden low temperature in the region.
Badrinath highway was blocked at Kamera on Thursday
The Badrinath Highway was blocked at Kamera on Thursday due to heavy debris falling from the hills. This blockage has disrupted traffic and caused significant delays in the area. Efforts are underway to clear the debris and reopen the highway for vehicular movement.
