Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has presented Rs 1,01, 175.33 crore for the financial year 2025-26. In its budget, the government has given special focus on accelerating infrastructure development while ensuring economic balance.
The state’s finance minister Prem Chandra Agarwal presented the budget in the state assembly in Dehradun on Thursday. This is for the first time that the state has presented a budget of more than one lakh crore. For the year 2025-26, a capital outlay provision of Rs 14763.13 crore has been made in the budget, increasing by about 7 percent.
The focus of the budget is GYAN
According to the state government, the GYAN (means -Garib, Youth, Annadata, and Nari Kalyan) is in the focus of the budget keeping in view the inclusive and holistic development. In the budget, Rs 1,811.66 crore has been allocated for different pension schemes under social security while the allocation for different schemes to give subsidy is Rs 918.92 crore. A provision of Rs 40 crore has been made in the budget to provide free travel facilities to the passengers of specified category in the buses of Uttarakhand transport corporation. To provide subsidies on cooking gas to poor families, the government has allocated Rs 55 crore in the budget.
“Yuwa Shakti” in the budget
The financial provisions for the “Yuwa Shakti” in the budget include Rs 63 crore for the upgradation of the ITIs as per Tata Technology Model, Rs 178.83 crore for reimbursement under the Right to Education Act, Rs 59.41 crore to provide free textbooks to students from 9th to 12th classes, Rs 15 crore to organize “Khel Mahakumbh”, and Rs 5 crore to organize “Yuwa Mahotsava”.
Allocation for the welfare of farmers
The financial provisions for “Anna Data” in the budget include Rs 15 crore under the House of Himalayas” scheme, Rs 35 crore under Mission Apple Scheme, Rs 30 crore under Milk Price Incentive Scheme, and Rs 42.18 crore overall under the Kisan Pension Scheme.
Welfare of the women
In the name women’ welfare, the state government has allocated Rs 157.84 crore under Nanda Gaura Scheme, Rs 29.91 under Mukhyamantri Bal Poshan scheme, Rs 22.62 crore under Mukhyamantri Mahalakshmi Kit scheme, and Rs 5 crore for the marriages of the daughters of destitute widows.
New schemes in the budget
While the budgetary allocation for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code is Rs 30 crore, the government has allocated Rs 48 crore for giving pension to the statehood agitators. The new schemes in the budget included setting up a venture fund, River front development schemes, Pravasi Uttarakhand Parishad, Electric buses to be operated under smart city, establishment of a sports university, and decoration of army rest houses.
Budget is also based on the NAMO theme
The state government has also claimed that the budget is based on the theme of NAMO i.e Navachar, Atmanirbhar Uttarakhand, Mahan Virasat, and Ojaswi Manav Sansadhan.
