Dehradun: The fate of candidates in Uttarakhand’s 11 municipal corporations and 100 municipal bodies will be decided on Saturday as vote counting is underway. The elections, held on 23rd January, witnessed approximately 66% voter turnout, which was lower than that of the previous election. Although voting was largely peaceful, some incidents were reported, including protests over missing names on the voter list.
A total of 5,405 candidates contested the urban local body elections. Among them, 72 candidates ran for the position of mayor, 445 for Nagar Palika Parishad president, and 4,888 for Nagar Parishad councillor roles. The main contenders in these elections were the BJP and Congress parties. The vote counting is being conducted under tight security measures.

- BJP candidate Anand Bisht wins Ghansali Nagar Panchayat by a margin of 322 votes.
- Independent candidate Manoj Kohli wins the chairperson position in Chinyalisaur Municipality with 1,913 votes, while Congress candidate Darshan Lal secures 885 votes and BJP candidate Jeet Lal received 1,423 votes.
- BJP candidate Vijay Kumar wins the chairperson position in Naugaon Municipality with 1,050 votes, while Congress candidate Viveen Kumar receives 827 votes and Independent Yashwant Kumar secures 816 votes.
- Independent candidate Kubja Dharmwan wins in Ukhimath Nagar Panchayat. The BJP finishes third, while the Congress came last.
- Srinagar Municipal Corporation results: BJP wins Wards 1 and 3, while Independent candidates secure Wards 2, 4, 5, and 6.
- Rudraprayag Municipality Ward 4: Independent candidate Santosh is leading with 138 votes, followed by the BJP with 135 votes and the Congress with 83 votes.
- Pauri Municipality Round 1: Independent candidate Himani Negi is leading with 731 votes, while the Congress has 624 votes and the BJP has 354 votes.
- Doiwala Ward Councillor Election: Independent Manish Dhiman wins Ward 1; Suresh Saini (BJP) wins Ward 2; Kalpana Rana (BJP) wins Ward 3; Arun Solanki (BJP) wins Ward 4; and Rakesh Dobhal (BJP) wins Ward 5.
