Dehradun: Migrants of Uttarakhand origin, who are either living abroad or in different parts of the countries, have shown their eagerness to adopt villages of the hill state. All such migrants will be given liberty to choose the area in which they want to develop the village concerned they want to adopt. The migrants will have full opportunities to ensure development of the villages to be adopted by them as per their wishes and interest.
Uttrakhandies from 17 countries are likely to attend the first Uttarakhandi International Conference to be held here on January 12. The state government wants to use this opportunity for investment opportunities.
State government issues necessary instructions
In this connection, chief secretary Radha Raturi has given a clear instruction to all the district magistrates to nominate one nodal officer in their districts concerned to contact the migrants who have shown their willingness to adopt the villages. The nodal officers will play a major role in the implementation of the schemes as envisaged by the migrants.
No compulsion for migrants to choose their areas to develop the villages adopted by them
“The chief secretary has clarified to the district magistrates that there should be no compulsion of any kind in the areas of work that the migrants are willing to do for the development in the villages being adopted by them,” a press release mentioned. According to the release, issued by the state government, migrants should be given all options as per their wishes and interests.
All DMs to personally monitor
Chief Secretary Raturi has underlined the need to ensure all co-operations on part of the state administration in this work. While instructing to take the applications being made by the migrants for their participation in the development of the villages seriously, chief secretary Raturi has tasked all the district magistrates to personally monitor it.
Prepare a database of the migrants
Chief secretary has also asked the district magistrates concerned to guide the migrants and provide them technical support in this work. Besides, she told them to create a database of the migrants of Uttarakhand origin at the district level. She also gave emphasis on the involvement of the village headmen, residents, Gram Vikash Adhikari and villagers in the scheme relating to the adoption of villages by migrants.
US-base Upreti to adopt Manan village
As per the press release, Shailesh Upreti, who lives in the US, has shown his eagerness to adopt Manan village of Almora. Upreti is a PhD scholar from IIT Delhi. He is a member of Energy Frontier Research Center of America. He wants to develop a model energy storage center in Almora. He wants to open his India corporate office here.
UK-based businessmen to adopt Aqua Tok Jangaliya village
Neetu Adhikari, who lives in the United Kingdom, is associated with the tourism business. She wants to adopt Aqua Tok Jangaliya village of Nainital. Apart from promoting foreign tourism in the state, she wants to establish kiwi farming and a yoga centre in Aqua Tok Village.
China-based Dev Raturi wants to develop Sunar and Kemaria villages of Tehri
Dev Raturi, who lives in China, has shown his interest to adopt Sunar and Kemaria villages of Tehri. He has expressed interest in the development of community facilities, solar lights, assistance in providing employment to the youth of the villages in China and education in the villages concerned. He has also provided funds for the development of these villages.
Osla village of Uttarkashi
Vinod Jethuri, a resident of Dubai, runs his NGO Samoon. He is set to adopt Osla village in Uttarkashi, where he will work on skill development.
Dubai-based Pant to adopt Budget, Barshayat and Berinag villages in Pithoragarh
Girish Pant, a native of Pithoragarh and is currently living in Dubai, is adopting Budget, Barshayat and Berinag villages in Pithoragarh. He will work here for the promotion of education, and computer education. H was honoured with the “Pravasi Bharatiya Samman of the year 2019” by the Government of India. He is known internationally for his excellent service work during the Ukraine war and Covid.
Dr AK Kala, Chairman and CEO of Bangkok’s Barauten Group, is adopting Pauri’s Fandai village. He will work here for education and local products.
