Dehradun: Praising the Uttarakhand’s new film policy, Bollywood actor Anupam Kher said in Dehradun on Tuesday that it has given a boost to film production in the state and, now shooting of many films and web series took place here in the recent past. Anupam Kher and chairman of central board of film certification Prasoon Joshi met Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami at his residence today.
Along with this, both the guests discussed various topics related to film production and filming in the state and the support given by the state government for film production in the state.
Expressed gratitude for state’s film policy
Bollywood actor Anupam Kher praised Uttarakhand’s new film policy for 2024, describing it as a significant effort to promote filmmaking in the state. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the initiative, stating that the new policy will greatly benefit Uttarakhand and further boost film production in the region.
Under the new film policy, a grant of two crore rupees is being given for local films
Expecting a new recognition for the state’s famous tourist spots through the shooting of the films, CM Dhami said that under the new film policy, a grant of two crore rupees is being given for local films. Besides, a single window system has also been created for filming so that the filmmakers can be facilitated. Apart from this, subsidies are also being given on shooting of films and OTT. He said that many plans are underway so that state artists can make a national level identity in the cinema.
New shooting destinations will also be promoted as tourism destinations
In this meeting, the CM also said the government is committed to the development of every sector related to film production which can boost up the employment generation as well. For this, new shooting destinations will also be promoted as tourism destinations. With the help of the film production, the process of identifying lesser-known tourist spots and promoting them for shooting has been initiated in the state.
Over 150 shooting permissions have been granted in just 8 months
The Chief Minister announced that since January 2024, over 150 shooting permissions have been granted in just eight months through the Uttarakhand Film Vikas Parishad’s online single window system. He mentioned that, except for protected forest areas, all shooting permissions fall under the Uttarakhand government. The film policy includes a provision that visiting departments will not charge any fees for film shooting. Additionally, the policy aims to promote Uttarakhand’s untouched shooting destinations.
New film policy provides subsidy up to 50 percent
The state CM also informed that the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 provides a subsidy of up to 50 percent on the expenditure of film production in regional languages or up to a maximum of Rs 2 crore. Apart from this, a provision has been made for a grant of 30 per cent of the expenditure incurred on production in the state that can go up to a maximum of Rs 3 crore.
Uttarakhand is a completely film friendly destination for filmmakers
Praising the simple shooting permission process under the single window system by the Uttarakhand Film Development Council, Bollywood actor Anupam Kher called the state a completely film friendly destination for filmmakers. He said that shooting a film here is easier than in other states. He praised the new film policy as being highly favorable to filmmakers.
According to film actor Mr. Kher, there has been a significant increase in film and web series shootings in Uttarakhand recently. Notably, he completed the shooting of the film “Tanvi The Great” from “Anupam Kher Studio” in Lansdowne within 36 days.
