This yatra is managed by the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN)
While many Himalayan passes in Kumaon and Garhwal provide access to this sacred mountain, currently, Indian pilgrims are allowed to journey to Mount Kailash only through the Lipulekh Pass in Kumaon. The pilgrimage to Kailash and the sacred lake Mansarovar, which is 30 kilometers to its south, is exclusively managed by the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN). KMVN collaborates with the Government of India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the Chinese Government, as Kailash is located in Chinese-administered Tibet.
