Rudraprayag: The Uttarakhand government has announced the resumption of the Kedarnath Yatra on Wednesday, which was temporarily halted for a week due to the disaster and cloudburst in Kedar Valley. Due to the damaged trek routes at various places, this pilgrimage will be possible only through Helicopters. Therefore, there will be a 25% discount on helicopter tickets for the Yatra.
Kedarnath Yatra to restart from tomorrow
Following heavy rains on the night of July 31, a cloudburst occurred along the Kedarnath pilgrimage route, affecting multiple patches of this route. At various points, the road was washed out up to 100 meters, leaving numerous pilgrims stranded between Kedarnath Dham and the pilgrimage route. Over the past six days, rescue operations have been underway, with the government utilizing five helicopters, including MI-17 and Chinook aircraft. Over 12000 pilgrims have been rescued in the last six days. Despite the initial disruption, the Kedarnath Yatra is set to resume from August 7.
Travel only via helicopter
According to Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Kedarnath Yatra can now be undertaken exclusively via helicopter. For devotees who have already booked tickets and are currently in Uttarakhand, the journey will commence tomorrow. The aim is to facilitate early darshan of Baba Kedar for these devotees, who have been waiting for the darshan for so long. Until the roads are fully repaired, helicopter travel remains the sole option for visiting Kedarnath Dham.
25% discount on helicopter services
In an effort to give relief to pilgrims embarking on Kedarnath yatra, CM Dhami has announced a 25% discount in Helicopter fare. Those traveling to Kedarnath Dham from Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Rudraprayag will receive a 25% discount on helicopter fares, courtesy of the state government. Additionally, arrangements will be made to facilitate trekking on the Kedarnath route within the next week. He also said that his goal is to alleviate safety concerns among devotees, ensuring a secure journey. He also said that credit for the successful rescue efforts goes to the agencies that have diligently fulfilled their responsibilities during this challenging time.
