Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has declared 13 villages in Uttarakhand as Adarsh Sanskrit villages. All work and conversation in these declared Sanskrit villages in each district will be in Sanskrit. Sanskrit trainers will also be appointed for this initiative.
The declared Adarsh Sanskrit Grams include Noorpur Panjhanhedi village of Bahadarabad block in Haridwar, Bhogpur village in Doiwala block of Dehradun, Kotgaon in Mori block of Uttarkashi, Dimmar village of Karnaprayag block in Chamoli, Goda village of Khirsu block in Pauri, and Baiji village of Agastyamuni block in Rudraprayag.
Encouraging the use of Sanskrit language
In these Adarsh Sanskrit Grams declared across the state, all villagers will be encouraged to use the Sanskrit language. During various rites, the verses of Vedas, Puranas, and Upanishads will be recited. Additionally, women will sing songs in the Sanskrit language during these religious and cultural events.
Promoting Sanskrit education for SC and ST children
To promote mutual harmony in these Sanskrit villages, more children from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) will be encouraged to study Sanskrit and increase their participation. The state government will deploy part-time Sanskrit instructors and assistant instructors from Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, to teach Sanskrit.
Declared Adarsh Sanskrit villages

State government has announced one Adarsh Sanskrit Gram in each district
Uttarakhand Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said, “Devvani Sanskrit is the second official language of the state, and for its preservation and promotion, the state government has announced one Adarsh Sanskrit Gram in each district. The Sanskrit language will be promoted in these villages, and the new generation will be connected to Indian philosophy and knowledge tradition through Sanskrit.”
