Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has decided to exempt the film “The Sabarmati Report” from the entertainment tax across the state. This was announced by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
CM Dhami, who watched the film in a local mall in Dehradun, said this film is bringing out the truth about the 2002 Godhra incident. The film is based on the same incident. CM said every countryman should watch the film. He added this film will be exempted from entertainment tax so that people may know the truth behind the Godhra incident.
CM Dhami recalled the incident
CM Dhami recalled 59 Ram devotees boarded the Sabarmati express train from Ayodhya and it was set on fire at Godhra station. They all died untimely death. He further said there was less investigation and more negative politics in this matter. The truth did not come out. The “urban naxal media” propagated the incident as a lie, he said. CM Dhami also appreciated the film producer Ekta Kapoor for bringing out the truth

Apart from his cabinet colleagues, MPs, and MLAs, Dhami was accompanied by the film actor Vikrant Massey. Massey said the Godhra incident had taken place about 18 years back, and the people, particularly youths, are not little aware about the incident. The youths should watch this film. He also expressed his gratitude to the Uttarakhand government for exempting the film from the entertainment tax across the state.
Uttarakhand is the fifth BJP-ruled state to exempt the film from entertainment tax
After UP, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand is the fifth BJP-ruled state which has decided to exempt the film from the entertainment tax. Earlier The films- the Kashmir File & the Kerala Story- were also exempted from entertainment tax across the state.
The film is directed by Dheeraj Saran. It was released in cinemas on November 15. Apart from Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra have also played their roles in this film.
