Dehradun: Uttarakhand starts preparations to implement Agri stack on a large scale very soon. Agri stack is a database of all the farmers in India containing all the information regarding their agriculture landholding, GPS coordinates of each plot and cultivated crops. It is supposed to cover around 60 million farmers by the end of this financial year. Through this, a unique farmer identification number will be provided to each farmer to avail the benefits provided by the government.
Deadline is given to Revenue and agriculture department
On Thursday, in order to provide full benefits of government schemes to the farmers in Uttarakhand, state’s chief secretary Radha Raturi has given a deadline to the Revenue and Agriculture Department to complete all the preparations as soon as possible for implementing the Government of India’s Agri Stack Project (Agri Stack – Digital Public Infrastructure) on a large scale in the state. Besides, she also has instructed to prepare guidelines to implement this and suggested these departments to take help from other departments in case of shortage of manpower.
Instruction to complete digital survey by running a campaign
The CS Radha Raturi also instructed to fasten the pace of digital survey (e-Padtal) by running a campaign to digitally verify the farmer registry of all the farmers in Uttarakhand. To bring all the state’s farmers under the umbrella of Agri-stack, she also instructed to ensure the participation of local communities and farmers by training them.
Data of registry, real time crop information through machine learning, GPS, AI and visual analytics
According to the chief secretary, this Agri Stack will store all the information like farmer’s identity (Aadhaar), land records, coverage, income, insurance, loan, crop details and revenue records. This data will be collected through several sophisticated means, including satellite data provided by ISRO, real-time crop information through advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, GPS, and visual analytics, among others.
Digital ecosystem to bring together various stakeholders in the agricultural sector
As per the information given by the chief secretary, this Agri stack system will act as a digital ecosystem to bring together various stakeholders in the agricultural sector, including farmers, government agencies, Agri-tech companies, and financial institutions. The system will offer several other benefits, including enabling data-driven policymaking, promoting agricultural productivity, facilitating targeted delivery, and allowing real-time monitoring. “The objective of Agri Stack is to ensure better, faster and easier delivery of government benefits and schemes to farmers, implementing the project in the entire state as soon as possible is the top priority of the government” she added.
