Dehradun: Following the India Olympic Association’s (IOA’s) approval for the date of national games 2025, the state’s sports department has intensified preparations for the prestigious event. Uttarakhand is hosting the 38th edition of the national games, beginning from January 28, 2025. The event will be concluded on February 14, 2025.
The sport department has set the deadline as December 15 for the completion of all the construction works of the different venues for organizing various sports events. During the national games 2025, the sports events will be organized in the state’s various cities, including Dehradun.
The GTCC will soon visit Uttarakhand to help with the preparations
The Game Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) which IOA has constituted to ensure the conduct of national games 2025, will give its final approval to the proposed venues for different sports events. The GTCC committee, headed by Mrs Sunaina, is likely to visit Uttarakhand to help with preparations.
Proposal for holding different sports events in Dehradun
Different sports events will be organized on the Maharaja College Sports ground in Dehradun’s Raipur areas as well as in the multi-purpose hall of the Dehradun district sports department. The shooting range and the athletics track work is almost completed. The state’ sports department has selected Parade ground as the venue of badminton and lawn tennis. Work on the badminton court and lawn tennis court is going on there. The sports department is likely to complete this work before the December 15 deadline.
Sports director visited Haldwani to take stock of the preparations for national games, 2025
Meanwhile, sports director Prashant Arya inspected the International Sports Complex in Haldwani and Indira Gandhi International Complex, Gaulapar, to take stock of the preparations for the national games 2025. Meanwhile, he also visited Haldwani stadium to take stock of the football ground being prepared for the national games. He directed the officials concerned to plant grass for warm-up near the field for players’ practice and install lights, besides painting of the “Darshak Dirgha”. He also underlined the need for completing the beautification works of the stadium at the earliest possible.
