Dehradun: Recently, a video of the hate speech given by Mahant Yati Ram Swaroopanand Giri at the Press Club of Dehradun went viral on social media. His speech while addressing the audience has angered many and Dehradun police took suo motu cognizance of the matter as per the order of the Supreme Court and started investigating the case.
According to the sources, this viral video clip of a speech given by Mahant Yati Ram Swaroopanand Giri at the Press Club, Dehradun on 10 September has several controversial and sensitive remarks, which are considered to be promoting hatred and violence.
A case has been filed against Mahant Yati Ram Swaroopanand Giri
On Thursday, a case was filed against Mahant Yati Ram Swaroopanand Giri for giving hate speech at Dalanwala police station. After registering the case, the police have started the process of investigating the case to check the authenticity of the video, the context of the speech, and the statement of the Mahant. Moreover, this investigation is to determine to what extent the Mahant has violated the law and order during the speech and whether his statement has created communal tension in the society.
SSP made an appeal not to make viral such posts
In the wake of communal tension, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ajay Singh has appealed to the general public not to make any such post viral through social media which increases hatred in the society on the basis of religion, caste and region. He also assured the people of strict action against such people who make such posts viral.
What was the whole matter?
On 10 September, a press conference was organised at Press Club Dehradun under the supervision of Shiv Shakti Dham Dasna Ghaziabad Uttar Pradesh. During the press conference, Yeti Ramswaroopanand Giri specifically mentioned the atrocities being committed on Hindu sisters and daughters in Bangladesh. In his address, he said that the Bangladesh situation can also emerge in Uttarakhand and his only purpose of holding the press conference on Dehradun was to save the sisters and daughters of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.
