Dehradun: After the arrest of five people for the alleged gangrape of a 16-year-old girl inside a bus parked at Dehradun ISBT, Dehradun SSP has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday to further investigate this case involving sexual assault on a minor girl.
A surveillance team to collect footage of the entire journey
According to the Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police, SSP, Ajay Singh, a surveillance team of police has been assigned to collect footage of the entire journey of the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation bus, which was boarded by the girl in Delhi to reach Dehradun. During investigation, it was found that this bus left Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate at 4.30 pm on August 12 and arrived in Dehradun at around 10.30 pm. Afterwards, this minor girl, who belongs to UP’s Moradabad, was allegedly sexually assaulted by five men in the ISBT parking lot.
This incident came to police notice on 14 August
In the early hours of August 13, around 1:30 am, a guard at Dehradun ISBT observed a girl sitting at a shop, engaged in conversation with a man. Finding the situation suspicious, the guard contacted the 1098 Child Helpline. The girl was then taken into custody by the State Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and placed in the Government Girls Home for her safety. During a subsequent counselling session, she revealed on 14 August that she had been sexually assaulted, according to police officers.
Child Welfare Committee (CWC) filed a complaint
Following this, members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) filed a complaint, prompting the police to register an FIR under sections 70(2) BNS and 5(g)/6 of the POCSO Act against five individuals: Dharmendra Kumar (32), the driver of the bus the girl had traveled on; Devendra (52), the bus conductor; Ravi Kumar (34), the driver of another government bus; Raj Pal (57), the driver of a third government bus; and Rajesh Kumar Sonker (38), a cashier with the state roadways. According to SSP, the accused driver of the Delhi-Dehradun bus noticed the girl at the Kashmiri Gate bus station.
SIT to investigate this matter under leadership of Dehradun SP city
The police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case, led by Dehradun SP (City) Pramod Kumar. The team includes CO (Sadar) Anil Joshi, CO (Prem Nagar) Reena Rathore, Patel Nagar Police Station in-charge Kamal Kumar, SOG (City) in-charge Shankar Singh Bisht, and SIs Jyoti Kanyal, Viniyata Chauhan, and Ashish Kumar.
SSP Dehradun will regularly review the action taken by SIT on daily basis
SIT can soon take custody remand of accused to strengthen evidence, along with this all officers appointed in SIT have been directed to thoroughly investigate all aspects of the said case and collect effective and relevant evidence against all accused involved in the incident, along with this on the basis of said evidence strong advocacy against the accused should be ensured in honourable court. SSP Dehradun will regularly review the action taken by SIT on a daily basis.
