Dehradun: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored 89 skilled employees, sportspersons, and self-employed persons, who are under the category of “Divyang” (especially abled persons), on the World Disability Day on Tuesday. Apart from them, the CM Dhami also honoured their employers at a function organized at the Divyang State Level Efficiency Award Distribution Program at Wedding Point, in Dehradun city.
According to a press release, the CM Dhami announced that the free equipment will be provided to all disabled persons as per their requirement by organizing special camps in all the districts by the upcoming World Disability Day next year. He also promised them that free online IAS coaching will be arranged for disabled students in the state.
The honour given to the Divyangjans will being positive changes in their lives, says CM Dhami
While congratulating the excellent and skilled Divyangjans who received their award on the World Divyang Day, CM Dhami said that this occasion, which gives positive energy and enthusiasm, an inspiration for all of us. He said that the honour given to Divyang heroes of the state, will not only change their lives, but change the thinking and attitude of the society towards them. All the “Divyangjans” have not only made their dreams come true by taking their physical condition as a challenge but have also inspired society.

Highlighting their courage and dedication to change their lives, CM Dhami said that today Divyang brothers and sisters are proving their capabilities everywhere- right from the government offices to playgrounds. “Lahron ke dar Kar Nauka Par Nahin hoti, Koshish karne walon ki haar nahin hoti,” he told the specially abled persons while referring to their hard works and dedication.
‘Disability Rights Act 2016’ brought positive changes
He also recalled that several works are being done for the specially abled persons under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. PM Modi implemented the ‘Disability Rights Act 2016’ in the country, he said. According to him, the introduction of this Act has brought positive changes the day-to-day lives of the specially abled persons
Government enhances facilities for specially abled persons
He said that the state government is trying to enhance the facilities for the specially abled persons at every level in the state. “Whenever we build a public building like a hospital, bus stand, special care is taken in it so that our specially abled brothers and sisters do not face any kind of inconvenience in commuting,” he said.
