Dehradun: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to open the blocked roads in various districts of the state within two days. He also said that the roads which cannot be opened in two days, its report along with the reason should be made available to the Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation.
CM Dhami has made it clear that the blocked roads should be opened soon and negligence in this regard will not be tolerated at all. He also has given instructions to take strict action against the officers who are negligent.
Secretary disaster management held a review meeting
Following instructions from CM Dhami, Secretary of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, Vinod Kumar Suman, convened a meeting with district officials on Monday to address the issue of closed roads across the state. He directed them to clear all blocked roads as quickly as possible. During the meeting, he reviewed the status of closed roads in each district and requested timelines from the relevant departments for reopening them.

In this meeting held on Monday, Nodal Officers of all the districts, Executive Engineers of Disaster Management, PWD, PMGSY, NH, BRO and District Disaster Management Officers from the State Emergency Operation Centre participated and discussed the practical difficulties in opening the routes blocked due to the rain-induced landslides.
No shortage of funds for disaster relief
In this meeting, the Secretary Disaster Management informed that CM Dhami has clearly stated that there is no shortage of funds for disaster relief and rescue operations as well as recovery work. Additionally, the district magistrate will be able to give approval for small works. Along with this, DM will be able to spend up to 25 percent of the money given to the districts. PWD and PMGSY will be able to carry out their work with this money.
Districts should send PDNA proposals soon
Along with this, Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation asked all the districts to send the proposals of PDNA (Post Disaster Need Assessment) as soon as possible so that the compensation process can be expedited.
95 percent of roads will open in two days
Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman also informed that according to the information given by various departments in the meeting, 95 percent of the roads in the state will be opened in two days. Those which are more damaged and cannot be opened, they too will be opened within a fortnight.
