Rishikesh: On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, on Sunday, the date for the opening of the sacred Badrinath shrine was ceremoniously decided at Narendra Nagar palace in Tehri.
This year, the revered doors will open on Sunday, 4 May at 6 a.m. in the month of Vaishakh, Shukla Paksha Saptami, under Pushya Nakshatra.
Ceremony took place on the auspicious day of Basant Panchami
In a ceremony, which took place on Basant Panchami Sunday, included intricate Panchang calculations carried out by Rajpurohit Krishna Prasad Uniyal. The momentous announcement was made by Maharaja Manujyendra Shah, in the presence of esteemed dignitaries such as Shri Dimri Religious Central Panchayat, Badrinath – Kedarnath Temple Committee officials, and members of the Dimri Panchayat. The palace resonated with fervent chants of “Jai Badrivishal” as the date was revealed.
Notable attendees included Princess Shirja Shah, Badrinath Dham Rawal Amarnath Namboodri, and a host of other temple committee officials and devoted worshippers.
Preparations for the upcoming Yatra are well underway
Shri Badrinath – Kedarnath Temple Committee Chief Executive Officer Vijay Prasad Thapliyal assured that preparations for the upcoming Yatra are well underway. Coordinating with the government administration, the committee is diligently making arrangements to ensure a smooth pilgrimage. The date for the opening of Shri Kedarnath Dham’s doors will be announced on Shivratri.
Char Dham Yatra will officially commence on Wednesday, April 30
The Char Dham Yatra will officially commence on Wednesday, April 30, Akshaya Tritiya. Traditionally, Shri Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham’s doors will open on the same day. The respective temple committees will announce the specific timings closer to the date.

As the preparations begin in full swing, the temple committee is also focusing on the maintenance of rest houses to provide a comfortable stay for pilgrims. The Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra, with its rich cultural and spiritual significance, is poised to welcome lakhs of devotees, fostering a spirit of devotion and unity. The Telkalash Gadu Ghada Yatra is set to commence from Narendra Nagar palace on Tuesday, April 22.
