Rudraprayag: In Uttarakhand, all eyes are now on the Kedarnath assembly by-poll. Although the date for the by-election is still to be announced, both the main political rivals- the ruling BJP and the main opposition Congress- have already started their preparation to put up their good show in the Kedarnath assembly by-poll.
The seat fell vacant due to the sad demise of the BJP MLA Shailarani Rawat. While Congress is apparently upbeat following its success to win Badrinath and Manglaur assembly by-polls recently, the main challenge for the BJP is to retain the Kedarnath assembly seat in the coming by-poll.
BJP has decided to deploy five cabinet ministers
Perhaps ruling BJP is aware about its political challenges to put up a good show in the Kedarnath by-poll and thus, the party has decided to deploy five cabinet ministers in different parts of the Kedarnath assembly constituency.
BJP has divided Kedarnath assembly seat in five zones. While a minister Saurabh Bahuguna has been tasked to stay in touch with the party workers of Guptakashi zone, the party has deployed tourism minister Satpal Maharaj in Ukhimath zone. Sports Minister Rekha Arya will oversee the party’s preparation for the Kedarnth assembly by-poll in Agastyamuni zone. Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal and minister of agriculture Ganesh Joshi will camp in Agastyamuni rural and Saterakhal zones respectively. BJP’s state general secretary Adiyya Kothari will be the party’s in-charge for Kedarnath by-poll. BJP MLA from Rudrapur Bharat Choudhari has been made convenor for the Kedarnth by-poll.
Congress has now planned to start its second phase of “Kedarnath Pratishtha Raksha Yatra” from September 12
On the contrary, Congress is also not leaving anything to chance in its preparation for the Kedarnth assembly by-poll. The party has now planned to start its second phase of “Kedarnath Pratishtha Raksha Yatra” from September 12. Pradesh Congress Committee’s chief Karan Mahra has sent invitations to the party’s big leaders to participate in this Yatra programme. Recently, AICC in-charge for the Uttarakhand Congress Kumari Selja has already held a meeting with the party leaders of Uttarakhand to work out a concrete strategy for the Kedarnath by-poll.
