Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s “Adventure Sports” tableau has been selected to be showcased on the Kartavya Path in New Delhi for the Republic Day Parade 2025.
The design, model, and music of Uttarakhand’s tableau, presented by Nodal Officer and Joint Director, Information, K.S. Chauhan, were praised for their excellence, leading to the final selection.
34 states and union territories had sent their proposals
This announcement was made by Uttarakhand Director General Information, Banshidhar Tiwari, who revealed that a total of 34 states and union territories had sent their proposals to the Expert Committee constituted under the Ministry of Defense, Government of India, in October 2024. This year, the Republic Day parade will feature tableaus from 15 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Chandigarh, and the Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, alongside Uttarakhand.
Showcasing adventure sports
Uttarakhand’s tableau will prominently feature a woman in traditional Uttarakhandi attire creating the famous Aipan art in the front section. The middle and rear sections will highlight various adventure sports such as rock climbing, paragliding, bungee jumping, hill cycling, trekking, river rafting, skiing in Auli, and zip-lining and rock climbing in Rishikesh. This vibrant display is expected to be a highlight of the parade, showcasing the state’s adventure sports offerings.
A legacy of participation
Uttarakhand has a storied history of participation in the Republic Day parade, with notable tableaus from 2003 to 2023. These include “PhulDei” (2003), “Nanda Rajjat” (2005), “Valley of Flowers” (2006), “Corbett National Park” (2007), “Adventure Tourism” (2009), “Kumbh Mela Haridwar” (2010), “Herbs” (2014), “Kedarnath” (2015), “Ramman” (2016), “Rural Tourism” (2018), “Anashakti Ashram” (2019), “Kedarkhand” (2021, Third Place), “Uttarakhand Moving Towards Progress” (2022), and “Manaskhand” (2023, First Place). Additionally, Uttarakhand’s tableau for Bharat Parv in 2024 was displayed at the Red Fort.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his pride in Uttarakhand’s selection, emphasizing the state’s identity and natural beauty, as well as its adventure sports potential. He stated, “It is a matter of pride for our state that Uttarakhand’s tableau has been selected for the Republic Day parade. This time the tableau will showcase Uttarakhand’s identity, natural beauty, and adventure sports possibilities. Our state is not only known for its spiritual and natural importance, but it is also a leader in the field of adventure sports. I congratulate all the artists and officials involved in the creation of the tableau. Through this tableau, we will move forward strongly towards establishing Uttarakhand as a major center of tourism and adventure sports.
