Dehradun: As Uttarakhand gears up to host the 38th National Games, the state is buzzing with excitement. Only 15 days are left for the grand event, which will see the participation of 15613 individuals, including 9728 players (male and female) from all over the country.
The preparations for the successful completion of the National Games are in the final stages, with 44 events scheduled to be held across eight districts, including the capital, Dehradun.
Maximum sports events in Dehradun
The National Games, being held in Uttarakhand for the first time, will see events spread across various districts. The maximum of 16 sports disciplines will be hosted in Dehradun. Haridwar will host 3 events, Tehri will host 7, Udham Singh Nagar will host 6, Nainital will host 9, and Champawat, Almora, and Pithoragarh will each host one event. The inauguration of the National Games will take place on January 28 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, while the closing ceremony will be held on February 14 at the International Sports Complex Gaulapar Haldwani in Nainital district.
Players from different states will start arriving from 27 Jan
From January 27, players from different states will start arriving in Uttarakhand. This includes not only the players but also the DOC, technical staff, and support staff for each sport. The event in Dehradun will feature sports like squash, archery, shooting (pistol and rifle), basketball (5×5 and 3×3), gymnastics, netball, wushu, judo, rugby sevens, lawn bowls, athletics, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, tennis, and golf.

Almora: Yogasana.
Pithoragarh: Boxing.
Champawat: Rafting.
Udham Singh Nagar: Cycling Track, Cycling Road, Handball, Volleyball, Shooting Trap, Skate, Mallakhamb.
Nainital: Cycling MTB, Kalaripayattu.
Haldwani: Football, Kho-Kho, Taekwondo, Modern Pentathlon, Swimming, Fencing, Triathlon.

Dehradun: 2223 male players, 2221 female players, totaling 4444 players with a total including technical and support staff of 7123.
Haridwar: 468 male players, 372 female players, totaling 840 players with a total of 1241 including staff.
Tehri: 176 male players, 176 female players, totaling 352 players with a total of 643 including staff.
New Tehri: 120 male players, 120 female players, totaling 240 players with a total of 643 including staff.
Almora: 136 male players, 136 female players, totaling 272 players with a total of 416 including staff.
Pithoragarh: 112 male players, 96 female players, totaling 208 players with a total of 349 including staff.
Champawat: 60 male players, 76 female players, totaling 136 players with a total of 246 including staff.
Udham Singh Nagar: 520 male players, 520 female players, totaling 1040 players with a total of 1643 including staff.

9728 players will participate in various sports events
Total male players’ participation during National Games will be 4940 while total female players count is 4788. Therefore, the total number of players will be 9728 in upcoming National Games including 15613 technical and support staff.
