New Delhi: Around three decades ago, when Narendra Modi was visiting the US, the then BJP leader travelled several parts of the country extensively without spending much and smart thinking. Notably, the US being a large country, the long-distance travel is quite common.
During the trip, Modi had to visit far and wide to meet people. However, he did not have much money for such extensive travel. Soon, he managed to overcome this, by discovering a monthly pass from Delta Airlines. However, the Airlines only had one condition, which was that the passenger taking the scheme would be required to have limited luggage and no seat selection. With just one bag and two pairs of clothes, Modi decided to take advantage of this affordable scheme.
PM Modi travelled extensively in the US with a Delta Airlines pass
With this pass, Narendra Modi visited several parts of the country in one month. During this trip, his mission was to meet as many Indians as possible in the US and encourage them to help India. He also used to take late-night flights to save on hotel costs. Modi would sleep on the plane and spend the day meeting people. Modi also used to choose flights with long layovers to spend nights in the air or airports. Talking about the trip, Dr Panna Barai said that Modi also used to wash his clothes daily during the trip. This was unusual in the US, as people used to do laundry normally once every week.
