Banda: With just a few days left for her hanging in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Shahzadi’s family has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to interfere in the matter and save her from the death penalty. A resident of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, she is scheduled to be hanged on September 21.
It may be noted that Shahzadi used to work at a Roti Bank in her village. She came in contact with a person named Uzair, a human trafficker through social media, who was a resident of Agra. Shahzadi soon fell in love with him, who called her to Agra to get her treated for her burnt face. However, upon calling her, Uzair sold Shahzadi to Agra-based couple Faiz and Nadia, who had shifted to Dubai. Shahzadi also claimed that Uzair took possession of her jewellery, disability card, ATM, and bank money before selling them to the couple.
Shahzadi suffers harassment in Dubai
She also reportedly was forced to undergo harassment while working as a domestic help in the house of the couple. In Dubai, they also blamed her for their four-year-old child, who died of illness and got her arrested. After the trial, the court awarded her capital punishment for the death of the child and fixed September 21 as death of execution. She then spoke to her father on the phone and sought help and said that she wanted to reveal the atrocities meted out to her by Faiz and Nadia in front of everyone.
Case registered against Uzair
On the request of the Shahzadi family, Banda CJM Bhagwan Das Gupta registered a case against the accused Uzair and the couple under relevant sections of human trafficking and ordered the arrest of all three. While the police is trying to nab, the sentence against Shahzadi has increased tensions in the family, after which they approached the prime minister.
