New Delhi: An alleged deception by a Pakistani woman has been uncovered in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The woman, identified as Shumaila Khan, was booked by the Uttar Pradesh police to secure a job as a government primary school teacher allegedly using forged documents on Friday.
Shumaila’s scheme unravelled when the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) exposed the fraudulent domicile certificate she used to secure the position. “Shumaila Khan is accused of using forged certificates to obtain the position of an assistant teacher,” stated Additional Superintendent of Police Mukesh Chandra Mishra.
The woman worked at the Government Primary School in Madhopur from 2015 until her termination last year following an investigation.
Shumaila had presented a domicile certificate purportedly issued by the SDM of Sadar, Rampur. The subsequent investigation confirmed the certificate’s fabrication and Khan’s Pakistani citizenship.
“Khan had presented a domicile certificate issued by the SDM of Sadar, Rampur, during her appointment process. However, an investigation by the SDM revealed that the certificate was fabricated and Shumaila Khan was confirmed to be a Pakistani citizen. The investigation established that she concealed her identity and submitted false documents to secure the job,” Mishra said.
Block Education Officer Bhanu Shankar confirmed Shumaila’s 2015 appointment based on the now-proven forged documents. The FIR details that concerns about the documents’ authenticity arose during verification. The SDM’s report revealed the domicile certificate was wrongly issued based on falsified information, leading to its revocation.
Despite repeated inquiries from the Education Department, Shimaila maintained the facade, leading to her suspension on October 3, 2024, by the District Basic Education Officer. Her employment was subsequently terminated, effective from her initial appointment date, according to the FIR.
Based on the investigation and the District Basic Education Officer’s directive, the Block Education Officer filed a case at Fatehganj Paschimi Police Station. The FIR includes charges related to fraud and forgery under the former Indian Penal Code. Police are now actively pursuing Khan’s arrest.
