Sambhal: Leader of the Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey, who was to visit Sambhal on Saturday, claimed that he was asked by the district administration not to visit the violence-hit district. Recently, the the district witnessed violence, after a survey was conducted by the authorities in the Jama Masjid in the district.
Heavy security has been deployed outside Pandey’s residence since Friday night. Claiming that he has been put under house arrest, Pandey further said that he was not given any notice not to visit the district. “Sambhal DM called me and asked me not to come there. I will go to the party office and decide what to do next. We do not provoke anyone… They should have given me a notice, but without any notice, they deployed police outside my residence,” news agency ANI quoted him saying.
‘Administration should have given notice’
He added, “They (administration) should have given me a notice per the rules that I cannot go there, but no written notice was given and the police were deployed. The Justice Commission is going there, and media people are going there. Will there be any unrest if we go there? This government is deliberately stopping us from hiding all its work. The commissioner of Sambhal is a ‘Udharu’ commissioner.”
On Friday, SP state president Shyam Lal Pal said that a party delegation, which would go to Sambhal on Saturday, would submit the report to the party chief Akhilesh Yadav after obtaining detailed information about the violence.
