Kanpur: A bride refused to continue her marriage with her groom in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur after the latter was found consuming alcohol and smoking with two of his female friends just after Jaimala (exchange of garlands) at the wedding venue on Sunday.
As per the report published in ‘The Times of India’, the bride’s brother saw him consuming alcohol and smoking after which he alerted others. This led to disruptions in the marriage after which the police were informed. While the groom Himanshu is a resident of Barra World Bank, the bride is a resident of Mandhana. They were scheduled to get married on Sunday.
Groom works at an orchestra company
Himanshu works at an orchestra company. On the day of his wedding, he arrived at the marriage venue in Damodar Nagar, Barrat, along with his friends at his wedding venue. After his arrival, the initial rituals including the welcome ceremony and garland exchange were performed as per plan.
However, the groom then went to the changing room on the pretext of changing clothes where, after some time, he was found smoking and drinking with two female friends. As soon as the matter came to the notice of others, the bride refused to marry the groom.
Both sides reached the police station
As the matter could not be resolved among themselves, the families of the bride and the groom reached the police station the next day. While the bride’s family demanded the return of wedding expenses, the groom’s side refused the same.
However, the bride’s family then filed a case against the groom and his family members accusing them of concealing facts, the Times of India added further. Sharing further details, the police said that while talks are on between the two sides, a compromise is yet to be reached between both parties.
