Firozabad: In a horrific incident, a bus collided with a dumper in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district. The accident took place on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. At least five people died in the incident, while six were injured, the police said. The bus was carrying 20 passengers.
The bus was returning from a ‘Mundan, ceremony. Reacting to the accident, passengers expressed concern that the driver of the bus might have dozed off while driving, leading to the accident. After reaching the spot, the police shifted all the injured to the hospital.
Sharing further details, the police said that Sandeep, a resident of Mohaddinpur in Lucknow, had gone to Mathura for his four-year-old son Siddharth’s ‘Mundan’ ceremony, along with his family and relatives. The accident occurred while were returning from the ceremony. Among the dead included his wife Neetu (42), daughter Lavshikha (13), and son Naitik (15). Two other people also died during treatment.
Bodies sent for postmortem
The police have sent the bodies of the deceased for postmortem. Those injured in the accident include Geeta (42), Hrithik (12), Karthik (9), Pranshu (13), Sanjeevan (43), Sushil Kumar (30), Shashi Devi (44), Chamcham (4), Savitri Devi (41), Arohi (1.5), Riya (16), Poonam (29), Phoolmati (40), Sarika (13) and Ruby (29). All the injured are undergoing treatment. There was chaos on the expressway after the accident. Soon, the Passersby informed the police and helped the injured.
Front portion of the bus was badly damaged
An official said that the cause of the accident will be investigated. It will be investigated whether the driver dozed off while driving the bus or there was some technical fault in the vehicle. Information has been sent to the relatives of the deceased. The injured have been rushed to the hospital. The front part of the bus has been badly damaged. Efforts are being made to remove the bus from the highway.
