New Delhi: A 20-year-old MBBS student, Panshul Vyas, died by suicide at his home in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday afternoon. The incident is believed to have been triggered by distress caused by his roommate’s behaviour. Panshul was found hanging by his mother and younger sister in their residence in the Basant Vihar area of Nanakheda police jurisdiction. Panshul had topped the NEET exam in Ujjain two years ago.
Had shared his feelings with cousin
Panshul, who was studying at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College in Indore, had shared his feelings of being tormented with his cousin via WhatsApp, but he did not discuss these issues with his parents or younger sister. His parents, who were planning a trip to Vaishno Devi were not aware of his mental state. At the time of the incident, Panshul’s father was at college, while his mother, Pallavi, a teacher at a school on Maksi Road, and his younger sister, Charvi, were at school. The absence of other family members at home is thought to have contributed to Panshul’s decision to end his life.
Searched online for methods to commit suicide
The student, who was allegedly suffering from depression, searched online for methods to commit suicide. According to Nanakheda police station in-charge Narendra Yadav, Panshul was experiencing distress related to his roommate’s unsettling behaviour. Although he did not discuss this issue with his immediate family, he did confide in his cousin Tushar via WhatsApp.
The police have seized Panshul’s mobile phone and are conducting a thorough investigation. They are examining other WhatsApp messages and will interview family members and friends to determine the factors that led to Panshul’s tragic decision.
