New Delhi: Violence erupted in Rajasthan’s Udaipur after a dispute between two students lead to widespread vandalism and arson across the city. In response, the police deployed 1,500 officers to restore order. On Saturday, authorities took action against the accused student, demolishing the house of the minor involved. Currently, police presence is heavy throughout the city, with all activities under close surveillance.
On Saturday, the administration took significant action against the minor accused. A team from the Municipal Corporation, accompanied by a large police force, arrived at the accused’s house and removed all belongings. Notices had already been issued by the Municipal Corporation and the Forest Department prior to this action.
Following this, the house was demolished. The accused and his family were living in the rented house, which belongs to the minor’s maternal uncle. Despite some local residents protesting against the demolition, the house was completely razed in just 20 minutes.
Violent clash
A violent clash between students from two different communities at a government school in Udaipur’s Surajpol police station area on Friday sparked a riot. The incident began when one student stabbed another, leaving him critically injured and hospitalized. Following this, Hindu organizations learned of the incident, leading to further violence. Authorities have responded by sending the minor accused to a juvenile home and arresting his father. Officials said that the city is on high alert due to rising tensions between two communities.
In response to the escalating situation, prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been imposed, restricting large gatherings in the city. In 2022, the city witnessed a horrific murder of a tailor named Kanhaiya Lal, who was killed for allegedly sharing an offensive post supporting suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma and her controversial remarks against the Prophet Muhammad.
