Rudrapur: The Uttarakhand Forest department, on Sunday afternoon, apprehended two youths attempting to sell parrots they had caught from the jungle. A total of 47 parrots were recovered from them.
The forest department filed an FIR against both individuals and released the parrots back into the wild. Sub-divisional forest officer Shashi Dev stated that a joint team of the forest department and the security force received information about the youths’ plan to sell the parrots in Delhi.
Parrots were released back into the wild
The forest department arrested two youths who had caught parrots from the jungle and were transporting them to Delhi for sale. A total of 47 parrots were recovered from their possession. Subsequently, an FIR was registered against them, and the parrots were released back into the wild.
Forest department team conducted a raid in Kheda
Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Shashi Dev stated that a joint team of the forest department and the security team received information about a youth from Kheda involved in catching parrots for sale in Delhi. Acting on this tip, Forest Officer Tanda Roop Narayan Gautam, Security Team in-charge Kailash Tiwari, and Forest Inspectors Harish Nayal, Surendra Singh, and Pan Singh Mehta conducted a raid in Kheda on Sunday afternoon.
A case has been registered under wildlife act
The team recovered 47 live parrots from the house of Naeem Raza, son of Babu Raza, a resident of Kheda Ward No. 17. Consequently, Naeem and Firasat Raza, son of Jafar Raza, a resident of Reshambari Colony Ward 13, were arrested. Two nets and two cages were also recovered from the scene. An FIR has been registered against the accused under sections 9, 11, 39, 50, 51, and 57 of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act.
