Raipur: Two personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) lost their lives and two policemen were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh on Saturday. The attack took place around noon near Kodliyar village in Abujhmaad area while joint teams of security forces were conducting an anti-Naxal operation.
According to police officials, the operation involved personnel from the ITBP, Border Security Force (BSF) and district reserve guard. The teams had launched their operation from the areas of Orchha, Irakbhatti and Mohandi. The IED explosion took place as the patrolling teams were returning from the operation.
Two cops injured in IED blast
Four personnel were injured in the blast and were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, two ITBP personnel succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased were identified as Amar Panwar, 36, from Satara, Maharashtra, and K. Rajesh, 36, from Kadappa, Karnataka, as reported by PTI. Both were part of the 53rd battalion of ITBP.
Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai expresses condolences
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his condolences on X, saying, “Two ITBP jawans were martyred in an IED blast in the forest near Kodliar village in Narayanpur district. Sad news has also been received about two police personnel getting injured in the blast. I pray to God for the peace of the souls of the soldiers who lost their lives, to provide strength to the bereaved families, and for the speedy recovery of the injured soldiers.”
