Darbhanga: A heart attack victim travelling on Darbhanga to Lokmanya Tilak-bound Pawan Express was saved on Monday night due to the quick action and alertness of on-duty TTE.
The 65-year-old passenger, who was travelling in A-1 coach with his brother to Varanasi, suddenly fell unconscious during the journey. His brother immediately informed Rail Madad, a passenger assistance service and sought help. The Sonpur Commercial Control centre then passed on the message to the TTE Savind Kumar.
TTE’s heroic act caught on camera
Before help arrived, the passenger’s brother consulted their family doctor, who advised giving CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) as the passenger was unconscious but still breathing. Savind Kumar, showing great presence of mind, administered CPR for around 15 minutes. His efforts revived the elderly passenger, who regained consciousness just before the train reached Chhapra station.
Passenger rushed to hospital
Upon arrival at Chhapra station, a medical team from the railway was already waiting, and the passenger was quickly taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
Recognizing his life-saving efforts, Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Bhushan Sood honoured TTE Savind Kumar for his promptness and dedication.
