Triumph has updated their big boy Tiger 1200 in the Indian market and launched it at Rs 19.39 lakh (ex-showroom). They are now offering a more refined package, new features and some ergonomic changes for added comfort. Here is whats new.
The biggest change done to the new version is the engine. Triumph says that they have done a lot of changes to increase the refinement of the engine which include changes to the balancer shaft, alternator and the crankshaft for a much smoother low down power delivery which was complained by many when Triumph moved over to the T-Plane engine. There is a new clutch as well for smoother action from the first gear. The capacity of the engine remains the same at 1,160cc and it produces 150 bhp and 130 Nm of torque.
The GT Pro and Rally Pro also get handlebar risers and they also have damped handlebars. The seats have been sculpted for more comfort and space but one can also option a lower height seat which reduces the seat height by 20mm. There is also pre-load adjustment on the fly with the new Active Preload reduction feature. The GT Explorer and GT Pro variants also have been refined ergonomically with repositioned footpegs which are now placed higher. This has been done to increase the cornering clearance of the motorcycle.
There are not visual updates to the motorcycle to differentiate it from the other variants but the Tiger 1200 already has the new design language of Triumph adventure motorcycles. Prices start from Rs 19.39 lakh which means that they have increased by Rs 19,000 across the range. Here is the full price list:
