New Delhi: Highlighting Tripura’s progress under the BJP-led government, Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday asserted that the state has transitioned from being a landlocked state to a ‘land-linked’ one. Shah attributed the transformation to improved connectivity and peace agreements with outlawed groups. He made these remarks while virtually addressing a government appointment letter distribution programme from New Delhi.
Speaking at the event held at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala, Shah praised the achievements of the BJP-led government in Tripura, claiming that the government has accomplished more in the last seven years than what Congress and the Left Front managed in several decades of governance.
‘Pacts brought peace and prosperity to Tripura’
“Three pacts with outlawed groups in the last 10 years have brought peace and prosperity to Tripura,” Shah said, adding, “The state was once landlocked but now, under BJP rule, it has become ‘land-linked,’ with development taking centre stage in the last seven years.”
BJP leaders have consistently highlighted improvements in land, air, and rail connectivity between Tripura and the rest of India in recent years. The BJP-led alliance has governed the state since 2018, focusing on infrastructure development and political stability.
The event also marked a significant milestone for Tripura’s workforce development, with 2,806 appointment letters distributed to candidates selected for various government positions. Chief minister Manik Saha presided over the ceremony, accompanied by key state ministers, including agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath, finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy, and industries and commerce minister Santana Chakma.
Ministers in attendance
Other dignitaries present included tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, social welfare and social education minister Tinku Roy, tribal welfare minister Bikas Debbarma, fisheries minister Sudhangshu Das, cooperatives minister Shuklacharan Noatia, forest minister Animesh Debbarma, minister of state for industries and commerce Brishketu Debbarma, and chief secretary JK Sinha.
The recruitment drive was conducted by the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT), with positions spanning across various sectors, including Pharmacists in Allopathy, Homeopathy, and Ayurveda under the Health Department, Lab Technicians, and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) across government departments.
Shah lauded the Manik Saha-led government for conducting a transparent and discrimination-free recruitment process. “The completion of the recruitment drive for 2,806 posts without any bias is a testament to the BJP government’s commitment to fairness and efficiency,” he stated.
Selected candidates were instructed to report at Swami Vivekananda Maidan by 12.30pm with their original documents, photo ID, and recruitment exam admit cards, while other attendees were asked to arrive by 3.30pm.
