New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra took X (formerly Twitter) to register her grievances after a Swiggy ice cream order arrived in a bad shape. Her post, tagging the food delivery giant, sparked a social media flurry with mixed reactions from users.
“Sorry @Swiggy – you’ve got to up your game. Unacceptable that I ordered expensive Minus Thirty mini sticks ice cream & it arrives spoilt and inedible. Expecting a refund or replacement ASAP,” Moitra wrote in her X post.

Responding promptly to the Mahua’s post, Swiggy requested her to share the order number to investigate the issue. A partial screenshot shared by Moitra revealed the order totaled Rs 1220 for 10 items. “Hi Mahua, sorry to know that you are facing an issue with your order. Please share the order number. We will look into it.”
The post quickly gained traction, accumulating over 377,600 views and a mix of comments so far. Some users echoed Moitra’s frustration with delivery app issues, while others criticised her for airing the complaint publicly. One user questioned why she didn’t address the problem through the app, to which she retorted, “Because it wasn’t.”
Injecting humor into the situation, Moitra responded to another comment with a playful reference to a previous controversy involving an expensive handbag, quipping that the ice creams were “Hermes flavour with Bobbi Brown topping.”
Just because i am an MP doesn’t mean I am not a normal person who orders food online. Please get over this mindset that public reps are not normal beings. And then you complain people are behaving like “netas”

Addressing critics who questioned her raising the issue as an MP, Moitra defended her right to be a “normal person” who orders food online. She challenged the notion that public representatives are somehow exempt from everyday consumer experiences. “Just because I am an MP doesn’t mean I am not a normal person who orders food online. Please get over this mindset that public reps are not normal beings. And then you complain people are behaving like “netas’.”
