New Delhi: After the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 Indians, The Resistance Front (TRF) initially claimed responsibility. However, facing intense pressure following India’s strong retaliatory measures, the group has now retracted its claim and denied any involvement.
In a fresh statement, TRF alleged that its digital platform had been hacked and that the earlier message accepting responsibility for the attack was not issued by them. “The Resistance Front (TRF) clearly denies any involvement in the Pahalgam incident,” the group said, adding that an internal investigation into the matter would be launched. TRF also accused Indian agencies of conspiring against it.
Terror groups in panic
Earlier, a video featuring Lashkar-e-Taiba’s deputy commander Saifullah Kasuri had surfaced, in which he too denied any role in the Pahalgam attack. Sources said the sudden U-turn by TRF and its distancing from the attack reflect growing fear among terrorist groups and their handlers in Pakistan. In the past 24 hours, the Indian Army has demolished the houses of seven terrorists in Kashmir and has drawn up plans for further action. Security forces are working swiftly to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the region.
The intensified Indian response appears to have rattled TRF and other outfits. Their fear that India will retaliate with full force is seen as the key reason behind their attempt to disown the attack. A letter disassociating TRF from the Pahalgam incident has also been circulated as part of their damage-control effort.
Global outrage and crackdown
Meanwhile, Indian forces have demolished the homes of five suspected terrorists linked to the attack. Operations continue in south Kashmir to apprehend those responsible. The UN Security Council condemned the attack, urging justice for the perpetrators. Global leaders, including US President Trump, expressed solidarity with India. The attack has led to a mass exodus of tourists from Kashmir, severely impacting the local economy. Nationwide, citizens have held vigils and protests, expressing grief and demanding action
