New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad have (SRH) have reportedly completed their five retentions by adding Travis Head and Nitish Reddy to the bag ahead of the retention deadline of October 31. Both Head and Reddy played a key role in SRH’s dominant run to the final in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and the franchise has decided to keep them both.
As per reports, Sunrisers Hyderabad had already nailed deals with skipper Pat Cummins, South Africa batter Heinrich Klaasen and Indian opener Abhishek Sharma to become their top three retentions. However, they were still in negotiations with Head and Reddy regarding their retentions. The 2016 champions have finally completed the deals for all 5 players.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, SRH added Head and Reddy to their final list to complete their five retentions ahead of the deadline. Head will be retained for RS 14 crore while Reddy is set to be retained for Rs 6 crore by the franchise. SRH will lose at least Rs 75 crore from their total purse of Rs 120 crore on their 5 retentions ahead of the mega auction.
SRH retentions: Who will earn what?
As per the report, South Africa batter Klaasen is set to be SRH’s top retention for a staggering Rs 23 crore. The Proteas star is one of the most destructive T20 batters in the world at present and smashed 479 runs in 16 matches for SRH in IPL 2024 at a strike rate of over 171. Head will be paid Rs 14 crore by the franchise to continue with the team after a brilliant campaign in IPL 2024. The Australian opener went hammers and tongs with Abhishek at the top for SRH last season and finished with 567 runs from 15 matches at an average of 40.50 and a strike rate of over 191.
