New Delhi: There was another attempt to derail a train at Bihar and Uttar Pradesh border. The railway track was found to be cut, and it was revealed that the Kolkata-Ghazipur City Shabdabhedi Express was targeted for derailing.
However, due to the alertness of the train’s locomotive pilot, a major disaster was averted. Railway authorities have reached the spot and train services on this route have been disrupted.
How officials averted mishap
According to reports, the authorities were alerted when they received information about the severed railway track. The GRP (Government Railway Police) and senior police officials quickly arrived at the spot.
The Kolkata-Ghazipur City train departs from Howrah Railway Station (HWH) at 10.45 pm and is scheduled to arrive at Ghazipur City Station (GCT) by 12.25 pm the following day.
Similar incidents
This is not the first such incident. A similar attempt to derail a train was thwarted in Uttarakhand. A seven-meter long old telecom pole was placed on the railway tracks near Bilaspur Road Rudrapur City Station at 43/10-11 railway line. However, the driver of the passing Doon Express applied emergency brakes, preventing a major accident.
Earlier, a similar incident occurred in Gazipur, Uttar Pradesh, where a large piece of wood was placed on the tracks between Gazipur Ghats and Gazipur City Station. Once again, the train’s driver applied emergency brakes, and although the train was dragged along with the wooden block for 400 meters, the disaster was averted. Railway authorities reached the spot immediately after the emergency stop.
