Focus on improving medical services, achieve TB-free state; directed Uttarakhand CS

Dehradun: Keeping in mind the large number of oxygen plants installed during Covid-19 pandemic, chief secretary Radha Raturi has directed the Medical, health and family welfare department to keep adequate number of oxygen concentrators at all the Dhams, including Adi Kailash and Kedarnath, located in the high altitude, besides the tourist spots, hotels and Dharamshalas.

Chief Secretary chaired the 12th Governing Body meeting of Uttarakhand Health and Family Welfare Committee in the state secretariat on Tuesday.

Focus on reduction of maternal mortality rate

With an aim to reduce the maternal mortality rate in the state, Raturi asked the officials concerned to immediately start a pilot project in Haridwar. Simultaneously, she directed them to make the maternal death audit report mandatory to reduce the maternal mortality rate. She underlined the need for proper coordination between the state’s health department and the NHM.

Achieve the target of making Uttarakhand a TB-free state by 2025

At the meeting, she discussed the plan to achieve the target of making Uttarakhand a TB-free state by the end of 2025. She directed the health department to identify the areas affected by the TB in the state. She gave emphasis on running special campaigns in all such areas.

Improve medical services at ground level

Chief Secretary Raturi directed the officials to give special focus on improving medical services and human resources at ground level in the state. According to her, improvement in the medical services should be given more priority than constructing buildings and developing infra-structures in the health and medical sector. She also gave special focus on enhancing health literacy at the ground level at the meeting. She gave necessary instruction for increasing health literacy.

Financial approval for various works

A proposal for rationalization of honorarium of personnel working the National Health Mission in Uttarakhand was given approval. Chief Secretary Raturi gave her nod for this. Simultaneously, financial approvals for various works of central oxygen pipeline and manifold, oxygen plant in Community Health Centre at Salt and Chaukhutia and oxygen plant and shed works in Community Health Centre in Sahaspur and Doiwala were given by the chief secretary Raturi at today’s meeting.

Secretary Shri. Dhiraaj Garbyal, Additional Secretary Smt. Swati Bhadoria along with officials of Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Finance, Rural Development Department were present in the meeting.
