To foster self-reliance among inmates, Berhampur Circle Jail in Odisha has initiated a skill upgrade training program aimed at helping them reintegrate into society successfully after their release. As announced by officials on Sunday, expert trainers from the textile department will conduct a six-month training course, which will be organised into three batches. Each batch will consist of 20 male prisoners participating in a two-month course. D N Barik, the senior superintendent of Berhampur Circle Jail, stated that upon completing the course, inmates will have the opportunity to take an examination to earn a trained weaver certificate.
Approximately 1.50 lakh health and wellness centres are being established nationwide, aimed at the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, announced Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday.
