New Delhi: Gujarat which is already reeling under floods for some time now, is going to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on Tuesday. Some regions will likely have extremely heavy rains, either equal to or less than 20 cm, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest predictions. The rains can be anything between 12 to 20 cm.
Apart from Gujarat, Saurashtra, Kutch and West Madhya Pradesh will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 3. This can be anything less than or equal to 12 cm. Rains however will be at isolated places and not the whole of this region, they added.
Wet day for north Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal
If the western part of the country is witnessing rain fury for the past some time, conditions are no different in the northern states. Some places in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, western Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi will see heavy rainfall on the day. The rains can be around 7 cm or less in these places.
The western state of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh in central India, Vidarbha region, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura are expected to see heavy rains. Maharashtra will also witness similar weather conditions.
Thunderstorms in Telangana, rains in Kerala: IMD
Kerala, Mahe and coastal Karnataka are also likely to see heavy rains on Tuesday, said the IMD predictions. Telangana, which is seeing floods and has seen many areas inundated will see thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. The wind speeds here are expected to be 30 to 40 kmph. Some regions of Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha are also likely to witness thunderstorms on the day.
Squally and windy weather with wind speeds of 35 to 45 kmph which are expected to reach 55 kmph are likely over west central and adjoining east central Arabian Sea, northern parts of south west Arabian Sea, along and off the coast of Gujarat and Karnataka coast.
