New Delhi: Trinamool Congress leader Kalyan Banerjee has triggered a row after he called Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia ‘Lady Killer’ in Lok Sabha. As the uproar ensued in the house, the BJP women MPs filed a complaint with the speaker.
The incident took place during a discussion on the Disaster Management Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. A heated exchange ensued between TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Heated exchange during House debate

This led to a heated exchange from both sides.
Following the exchange, Minister Scindia interrupted TMC leader and said, “No attempt should be made to turn lies into truth in the House.” Banerjee immediately objected and said that no minister could suppress an MP’s voice through power. Banerjee further added that, “Scindia good looks doesn’t mean he is a good man.”
‘Your good looks doesn’t mean…’
Banerjee asserted that he hailed from humble background and doesn’t belong to a royal family. Scindia countered Banerjee saying, “If someone tarnish the image of my family, I won’t tolerate it”. It was then TMC leader then made the controversial statement saying, “You are handsome….a lady killer… you come from a royal family, but that doesn’t mean you have the right to say whatever you want.”
This led to a heated exchang between the two sides in the Lok Sabha. The Union Minister objected to Banerjee’s remarks calling it personal attack and an insult to the women of the country.
Kalyan Benerjee apologises
Realising he has stirred a controversy, the TMC leader apologised for his utterances, but the uproar continued. The Union Minister refused to accept the apology. Meanwhile, BJP MPs, including women members, sought Banerjee’s suspension from the Lok Sabha.
