New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday recommended an independent investigation into the Tirupati laddu issue, involving officers from the CBI, state police, and a member of the FSSAI. This suggestion followed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta’s proposal to have the state SIT conduct the investigation, with oversight from a central officer.
The apex court said that it was a matter of faith for crores of devotees across the world. The Supreme Court, led by Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan, sharply criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his handling of information related to adulterated ghee. The bench expressed concern over the premature nature of the chief minister’s public comments on the issue.
