New Delhi: Prime Minister on Friday addresses a rally came amid the intensifying political climate ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. The PM launched a strong attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Modi promised a decisive crackdown on AAP’s alleged corruption. He said that the CAG report, which highlights the party’s scams, would be presented in the first Assembly session. He accused AAP of suppressing the truth about its wrongdoings and said the people of Delhi were growing increasingly disillusioned with the party.
The prime minister said that, with just days left before voting, the people of Delhi had made up their minds to oust AAP and bring the BJP with a resounding majority. He said that the true face of the AAP government would soon be exposed, saying that AAP leaders were spreading lies, particularly in slum areas. In contrast, Modi highlighted the Modi government’s efforts to build permanent housing for slum dwellers.
Pitching double-engine government
Modi reiterated his call for a “double-engine government,” saying that Delhi needed a government that coordinated between the central and state administrations. He showcased the Yashobhoomi project in Dwarka, speaking of its role in providing employment opportunities and economic growth for the region. He envisioned Dwarka becoming a smart city in the near future and urged voters to support a strong BJP-led government to ensure progress.
The prime minister criticised AAP’s alleged misuse of Delhi’s resources, accusing the party of using the city as an “ATM” to fund its political interests across the country. He contrasted the BJP’s vision for the city with AAP’s mismanagement and failure to deliver basic services to Delhi’s poor.
Solutions for Delhi
PM Modi appealed to the people of Delhi to give him the opportunity to serve them. He said that only a BJP government could address the city’s issues of corruption, misgovernance and poverty. He condemned AAP’s failure to distribute centrally-built homes to the poor, accusing them of caring more about building luxury homes for themselves than addressing the needs of Delhi’s underprivileged.
