New Delhi: An Italian cricketer named Thomas Jack Draca has registered himself for the 2025 Indian Premier League’s mega auctions, making it the first time that a players has been drafted into the player pool from the European country.
A right-arm medium pacer, Draca is among the 1574 players who will go under the hammer in Jeddah on November 24 and 25, making it the second successive time the auctions will be held outside India after the 2024 one was held in Dubai.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the list of players released who will be auctioned off on Tuesday.
Among the 1574 players up for auction, 320 are capped while 1224 are uncapped and 30 players are from Associate Nations, like Italy from where Draca hails from.
A total of 1,165 Indian and 409 overseas players will hope to be among the 204 slots that 10 IPL franchises will look to fill up when the floors is opened up for bids.
Draca has featured in four T20Is for Italy, picking up eight wickets, having made his T20I debut against Luxembourg on June 9.
The 24-year-old was part of the Mumbai Indians-owned MI Emirates squad in the ILT20, and for Brampton Wolves in the Global T20 Canada.
With 91, South Africa has most number of international players in the registered list, followed by Australia (76).
A total of 272 internatinal capped players will be part of the auctions along with 965 uncapped Indians.
