New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi appeared as a guest on Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath’s podcast series, “People By WTF”. The episode was broadcast at 1.30 PM, offering listeners an engaging conversation with the Prime Minister.
During the discussion, PM Modi shared a fascinating story from 2014, shortly after he assumed office as Prime Minister. He recounted a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who had extended a courtesy call and expressed a desire to visit India.

PM Modi’s special conversation with Chinese President
PM Modi said, “In 2014, when I became Prime Minister, Chinese President Xi Jinping called me and said he wanted to visit India. I told him, ‘Sure, you are most welcome to visit.’”
President Xi then made a unique request to visit Gujarat and specifically Modi’s hometown, Vadnagar. “President Xi said he wanted to visit Gujarat, particularly my village, Vadnagar. He mentioned that he felt a special connection with me and my hometown,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi asked Chinese President Xi what the connection was. “The President explained that a Chinese philosopher who accompanied him had spent significant time in Vadnagar. Interestingly, when the philosopher returned to China, he stayed in President Xi’s hometown,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi highlights link between India and China
The Prime Minister described this cultural link as a reflection of the deep-rooted historical ties between India and China. “He said this is our connection,” PM Modi said.
