“When it was known that some people had lost their lives, their bodies were lying in the mortuary and in the hospital, then the govt filled their government helicopter with flowers and showered flower petals. What kind of Sanatani tradition is this?… God knows how many slippers, clothes, and sarees were lying there and they lifted all of them using JCB machines and tractor trolleys,” said Akhilesh while demanding a transparency in releasing the real number of deaths in the incident.
Govt accepted stampede deaths after 17 hours: Akhilesh
The SP chief also hit out UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over delay in releasing the list of deceased in the stampede at Maha Kumbh.
“Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister did not express condolence. When the President and Prime Minister of the country expressed condolence, after 17 hours the (State) government accepted it. These are the people who cannot accept the truth even today.” . “Log punye kamane aaye the aur apno ke shav lekar gaye hai” (people came to earn good deeds at Maha Kumbh, but returned with dead bodies), added Akhilesh.
What happened to Rs 40 lakh crore MoUs signed in investment Summits?
Why alleging difference between Centre and the CM Yogi Adityanath-led UP government, Akhilesh claimed that despite announcements that the state government has managed to sign MoUs worth Rs 40 lakh crores in investment summits, no new investor has come to the state.
“Assurances were given that the MoUs worth Rs 40 lakh crores are being done. I want to know from this double-engine government that out of the Rs 40 lakh crores of MoUs that have been done, how much has this government been able to bring on the ground? Is it not that the double engines of the government are clashing with each other? Now the news we read is that not only engines are colliding, even coaches have started colliding,” said Akhilesh Yadav.
