New Delhi: With winter settling into the mountainous regions of Jammu and Kashmir, and snowfall approaching, Pakistan is reportedly increasing efforts to facilitate terrorist infiltration. Recent spates of terror attacks across the region have prompted heightened security, with both the Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) on high alert along both the International Border and Line of Control (LoC). According to intelligence reports, Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, along with terrorist handlers, is attempting to infiltrate militants into Indian territory.
According to reports, between 150 to 200 terrorists are positioned at launch pads in areas south and north of the Pir Panjal range in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Meanwhile, the Indian Army, equipped with advanced weapons and technology, continues to conduct rigorous patrols along the border. Soldiers are actively conducting search operations in forests, riverine areas, and dense foliage along the LoC to detect and eliminate any hidden militants.
Terrorist launch pads across PoK
Key regions in PoK, including Haji Pir Sector, Forward Kahuta, Pad Mohalla, Rankadi, Sediyan, Samani, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, and Leepa Valley, reportedly host numerous terrorist launch pads.
Reports further indicate that 17 training camps and 37 launch pads are operational within PoK. In a recent encounter in the Akhnoor sector, security forces neutralised three terrorists belonging to the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) group, who had infiltrated from PoK. On October 29, Major General Sameer Srivastava of the Indian Army stated that 50 to 60 terrorists remain at camps across the border, poised to attempt infiltration into the Jammu region. He emphasised the Army’s vigilance against these attempts, reassuring that any infiltration effort would be decisively countered.
Over the past five years, security forces have eliminated 720 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, with current estimates indicating that only 120 to 130 militants remain active.
