New Delhi: India has started experiencing a sweltering heat wave in many parts. Several regions are experiencing high temperatures, increasing humidity, and worsening air quality. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised warning about heatwave warnings for Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, indicating severe heatwaves in the coming days. The weather department has raised a yellow alert in Delhi, a red in Gujarat, and an orange alert in Rajasthan.
The weather department has also issued a heavy rainfall warning for the southern and eastern states. The weather department has predicted that a strong flow of northwesterly winds caused by an anti-cyclonic circulation will start today. A heatwave has been sweeping across northwest India on, April 6, and is expected to continue till Thursday, April 10.
A little drop in temperature is anticipated around next weekend due to a forthcoming Western Disturbance (WD), which may bring relief in the form of scattered rain and dust storms.
Yellow alert in Delhi amid heatwave conditions
IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi as the national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2C on Sunday, 3.1 degrees above the average of the season, whereas the minimum temperature was recorded at 18.5C, 1.5 degrees below normal. The weather department has predicted a heatwave with a mostly clear sky. Temperatures are expected to touch a maximum of 41C and a minimum of 21C. The weather forecast has predicted that Delhi will experience heatwave conditions, with maximum temperatures hovering between 39C and 42C in the next six days.

Rajasthan’s Barmar records 45.c
Barmer recorded a temperature of 45.6°C on Sunday, becoming the hottest city of the season. This is 6.8 degrees above the normal seasonal temperature and is also the highest recorded temperature in April. The weather department has issued an orange alert as temperatures persist to rise across the state.
Other cities in Rajasthan are also experiencing extreme heat, with Jaisalmer recording 45.0°C, Chittorgarh at 43.2°C, Jodhpur at 43.0°C, Kota at 42.4°C, and Jalore at 42.0°C. The Jaipur Meteorological Center has issued a warning related to heatwave conditions, with temperatures expected to rise by 3 to 4 degrees in the coming days.
