Hyderabad: Telangana police on Sunday issued orders banning rallies, gatherings, public meetings, dharnas and protests for a month and imposed section 163 of the BNSS, earlier known as section 144.
The police department said that several organisations/parties are trying to create disturbances affecting public peace and order in Hyderabad city, resorting dharnas and protests.
To maintain public order, peace and tranquillity in the city, Hyderabad CP CV Anand issued the order banning gathering of five or more people, processions, dharnas, rallies or public meetings and prohibit individuals/groups from making speeches, gestures, symbols, placards, flags and any type of messages of electronic form etc, which is likely to disturb public peace and order.
Exemptions:
However, the department exempted one location in the city for the public to hold protests. “Peaceful dharnas or protests are allowed only at Indira Park Dharna chowk.”
Any dharna at any other location in Hyderabad and Secunderabad are not permitted.
Police officers on duty, military personnel on duty, bonafide funeral processions, flying squad education department are exempted from the operation of this order. The order has come into effect at 6 pm on Sunday, October 27 and will be in place till November 28.
Telangana police personnel dismissed for protests:
On Sunday, at least 10 police personnel from TGSP were dismissed for agitating and protesting in front of BR Ambedkar Secretariat in Hyderabad, demanding better working hours and transfer policy.
